Quick, honest answers.
Most of the things people ask before getting started — organized by topic. If we missed one, just ask.
Pricing
How much does a website cost?
$50/month for a 1-page landing site, $150/month for a 5-page website. No setup fees, no hidden costs. Domain registration is $30/year if we set one up for you.
Why subscription instead of one-time?
Subscriptions make professional websites accessible without a multi-thousand-dollar upfront cost. They also include ongoing support, edits, hosting, and security — so your site stays current rather than slowly going stale. A one-time buyout is available if you'd rather own the site outright.
What's the early termination fee?
$300 for the 1-page plan, $800 for the 5-page plan — but only if you cancel during the initial 1-year contract. After year one, you can cancel anytime, month-to-month.
What happens if I miss a payment?
If a payment is more than 5 days late, we may add a $25 late fee. At 14 days overdue, we may temporarily take the site offline. At 28 days, the contract may be terminated. We always try to reach out first.
Can I pay annually instead of monthly?
Reach out and we can talk about it. We're flexible if you'd prefer to handle it in one annual payment for accounting reasons.
Ownership
Do I own the website?
On a subscription plan, you license the site for use while you're a client. The design files and any stock imagery stay with LaunchSite. Your own content — photos, logos, copy you've provided — is always yours, no matter what.
Can I buy the site outright?
Yes. Buyout pricing is $950 for a 1-page landing site and $3,200 for a 5-page site. You can either have us host it ($25/month + $30/year for domain) or take the files and host it yourself.
What if I leave LaunchSite?
The site comes back to us, but you keep your content and your domain. If we registered the domain on your behalf, we'll transfer it to your account at no cost.
Can I come back after canceling?
Yes — but you'd be starting fresh with a new 1-year contract. We don't preserve old sites between contracts.
Revisions & Edits
What does "unlimited small edits" actually mean?
It covers text tweaks, photo swaps, hours/pricing updates, adding or removing existing sections, button text changes, adding a few photos to a gallery, SEO basics, and bug fixes. The full breakdown is on the services page.
What's NOT included in small edits?
Designing brand-new pages, full layout rebuilds, complex new functionality (calculators, member portals, multi-step forms), writing full pages of copy from scratch, or bulk uploads of 20+ items. Those are scoped separately as add-ons or custom work.
How fast do you make edits?
Most edits go live within about 2-3 business days. Urgent things (a wrong phone number, broken link) usually get handled within a few hours.
Is there a limit on how many edits?
"Unlimited" means unlimited — within reason. As long as they fall under our definition of small edits, you can send as many as you need. We're not counting.
Timelines
How long does it take to launch a site?
Landing pages: about 1 week. 5-page websites: about 2 weeks. The clock starts after we receive your first payment and have the content we need.
Can you rush a project?
Sometimes. If you have a hard deadline (like an event or grand opening), tell us up front. We can usually accommodate — but our normal pace is already pretty quick.
What if I need to delay things on my end?
That's fine. We pause when we're waiting on content from you. We'll just pick up where we left off once you're ready.
SEO
Do you handle SEO?
We handle on-page SEO basics — page titles, meta descriptions, alt text, internal linking, clean code, and fast load speeds. Those are foundational and they're included. We don't run paid SEO campaigns, link-building, or content marketing — those are separate services and ones that we don't offer currently. We'll be happy to share more about these subjects if you are ever interested.
Will my site rank on Google?
A well-built site is the foundation, but ranking depends on a lot of factors (competition, location, content, reviews). We make sure your site is technically sound and search-friendly. Beyond that, ongoing content and Google Business Profile work matter most.
Do you set up Google Business Profile?
We can guide you through setting yours up if you don't already have one. We don't manage it on an ongoing basis as part of the website plan.
Hosting & Domain
Who hosts the website?
We do, on reliable modern hosting infrastructure. SSL certificates, uptime monitoring, and security patches are all included.
What about the domain name?
If you already own a domain, we'll point it to your new site for you. If you don't, we'll register one on your behalf for $30/year (the cost of registration, billed yearly).
Can I use my own hosting?
Not on a subscription plan — hosting is part of how we keep things simple and consistent. If you've bought your site outright (buyout), you can self-host or have us host it.
Support
How do I get support?
Text or email. That's it. There's no ticket system, no phone tree. You're talking to the same person who built the site.
What are your support hours?
Our office hours are generally 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, although if you text us we'll respond within 24 hours, usually much sooner during actual business hours. Urgent things (a site outage, a wrong phone number) get prioritized immediately.
What if something breaks?
Tell us and we fix it. Bug fixes, security patches, and uptime issues are covered — they don't count against your edits or come with extra invoices.
Texting & Communication
Can I just text you when I need a change?
Yes — that's the whole idea. Text (805) 539-5796 with what you need changed. Photos, text, paragraphs — whatever's easiest.
Do you do calls or meetings?
Yes, especially during the planning phase. After launch, most things can be handled by text or email — but we'll hop on a call whenever it's useful.
What if I have a lot of changes at once?
No problem. Send them in batches, in a doc, or however you like. We'll work through them in order.
Industries
Who do you work with?
Local service businesses (cleaners, landscapers, electricians, contractors, food trucks), established storefronts (restaurants, salons, fitness studios, boutiques), and medical practices (independent clinics, specialty care, wellness).
Do you work with non-profits or religious organizations?
Not currently. We focus on for-profit local businesses.
Do you build e-commerce sites?
Not as a standard service. We can quote a custom build if a client really needs e-commerce, but it's not our focus. For online ordering, we can link your existing platform (like DoorDash or Toast) to the site.
Technical Questions
What's the site built with?
Straight HTML and CSS, with light JavaScript where it makes sense. No Wix, Squarespace, or page builders. The result loads faster and is more maintainable than template-based sites.
Is the site mobile-friendly?
Yes. Every site is built mobile-first and tested from 360px screens up to 1920px desktops.
Will it pass Google PageSpeed?
We optimize every site to score well on Google PageSpeed Insights — including image optimization, clean code, and lightweight markup.
Can you connect my site to other tools?
Yes. Booking platforms, online ordering, scheduling, contact forms, Google Maps, social media — we can hook these up. We don't manage those external tools ourselves, but we'll connect them and guide you through setup if needed.
Do you do analytics?
Yes. Privacy-friendly analytics come with every plan so you can see how customers are finding and using your site.
